Being sick is not easy, and is doubly challenging when the prescribed medicine or treatment are not covered by your medical insurance or Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). Patients fighting serious illnesses are foced to face paperwork and bureaucracy.
The Legal Department was established to help patients concentrate on their health. The department's legal team accompanies the patient in any legal issue related to receiving medicine or treatment. The legal team of six volunteer lawyers and one retired judge, led by Attorney Yael Friedel, examine the patient's rights for initial approval of the drug at their HMOs Exception Committee and insurance company. In many cases, the department accompanies the patient to the courts to obtain a special approval to receive the medicine through the HMO.
The Legal Department has helped hundreds of patients receive the rights and medical care they deserve from the HMOs and insurance companies. The department is headed by the founder and manager of the department, the deputy director of the association Ms. Shira Halfon. The department is also advised by highly professional legal experts.
