The Department of Expensive Medicines of Haverim L'Refuah operates with the aim of giving patients their ray of light and hope for recovery and life.
How can the department staff assist in obtaining an expensive medicine?
Firstly, the department staff receives and examines the patient's application and explores options to help. The request reaches the Legal Department, where our volunteer lawyers examine the patient's rights. They work to obtain initial approval of the medicine from the Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) and insurance companies and also proceed with the HMO's Exceptions Committee until permanent approval of the drug is obtained for the patient.
At the same time, the Expensive Medicines Department works to obtain the drugs from surplus medicine in the community and examines the possibility of receiving the medicine directly from the pharmaceutical companies.
In addition, the patient can open a Save a Life crowdfund to finance the medicine. Our platform for raising donations makes it possible to raise funds to finance medical treatment, free of charge. Every donation is tax deductible in Israel.
