Katarina, 37, fled the war in Ukraine to Israel, only to enter another war - the war for her life.
Arriving in Israel as a refugee (thanks to her Jewish grandmother), Katarina hoped to find a safe haven. But in the summer of 2024, her world was turned upside down again when she was diagnosed with aggressive stomach cancer.
With no family, no resources and no eligibility for full public funding, Katarina faced an abyss of despair. She urgently needed expensive treatments and life-saving medications that cost beyond her financial means.
"Haverim L'Refuah" came to her aid and managed to obtain two expensive treatments worth 150,000 NIS ($40,300) for her free of charge, but the rest of the private medical expenses remained on her shoulders.
… and for some exciting news: the treatment was successful and the tumor shrunk! For the first time since the diagnosis, a window of opportunity opened - surgery to remove the tumor could save her life. But... The cost of the private surgery is 68,460 NIS ($18,400), an amount beyond her reach. Without surgery, the tumor remaining in her body will pose a constant threat to her life.
In addition, she will need additional expensive tests post surgery.
Will you help Katrina win the war for her life? This brave woman has come a long way - fleeing her war-torn country, adjusting to a new country, dealing with a serious illness, and now, for the first time, there is a real chance of recovery.
Every donation, big or small, brings Katrina closer to this life-saving surgery.
Together, we can give her the opportunity she so deserves - a chance at a new, healthy life.
