The story of Mati Moyal, 57 year-old father of two daughters, is a story of courage, endurance,
and the fight for life.
The story behind the appeal
Mati is a devoted father and loving family man. For years, he built his life towards caring for his daughters and his family. But in October 2023, life changed in an instant - one of his daughters was at the Nova party on October 7. She experienced the unthinkable, tried to escape with her friends, saw one of them murdered before her eyes, and was repeatedly close to death. Thanks to a miracle she survived - but the trauma remained deeply
etched in her soul.
Mati, a caring and loving father, devoted himself to caring for his daughter and providing the emotional support she needed. But in June 2024, life dealt him another blow - a diagnosis of metastatic lung cancer.
Fighting for his life
Thanks to the nonprofit 'Haverim L'Refuah', Mati received advanced and expensive treatments that brought about a significant improvement in his condition. The family was filled with hope - it seemed that Mati was defeating the cursed disease.
But in the beginning of 2025, the cold reality came knocking on the door once again. The cancer returned - this time metastatic and widespread, including to
the brain. The treatments that helped in the past are now no longer effective.
His last hope
Mati's doctors recommend treatment with an advanced medication called Tarlatamed - a medication that is not included in his health insurance and costs about 56,000 NIS ($16,400) per treatment. Mati needs 7 treatments - costing a total amount of about 390,000 NIS ($115,000).
This is his last option to save his life. This is the only hope left for a family that has already been through enough.
Our appeal to you
Mati is not a statistic. He is a father, a husband, a man who has dealt with severe family trauma and is now fighting for his own life.
His daughters need their father - especially the daughter who is still dealing with the trauma of October 7. The family needs him. His life is in your hands.
