Ori Gessenbauer is a devoted psychotherapist, a married mother of four, living with her family in Elazar. For years, Ori has accompanied others through the most difficult moments of their lives — with deep compassion, attentive listening, and an unwavering belief in the human capacity for hope.
In 2022, Ori began to experience severe shoulder pain . Months passed, tests were conducted, but no clear answers were given. Only in June 2023, following an MRI scan, did the devastating truth come to light: metastatic cancer in the liver, with had spread to the bones.
From that moment on, Ori’s life — and the life of her entire family — changed completely.
Ori is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments: harsh, exhausting therapies that take a heavy toll on both body and soul. Alongside the medical battle, her family is doing everything possible to support her — seeking complementary supportive treatments and advancing toward specialized diagnostic tests to help tailor a more precise, targeted therapy that may offer her a better chance.
The estimated cost for the coming six months is approximately ₪100,000 ($31,300).
