Barkat was diagnosed in June 2023 with GBM type brain cancer. She underwent surgery to remove the tumor, followed by radiation and a series of chemotherapy treatments. In addition she is being treated with a head electrode helmet.
Currently her doctors' recommend a special treatment at the Seagate center in Germany, where a vaccine is being developed which fights the cancer cells.
The treatment is estimated at about 60,000 euros, not including flights and accommodation. Bareket must fly quickly, the center agreed to accept her after conducting tests and finding her suitable for treatment.
Only when the money is transferred to the treatment center will they start the production of the vaccine which takes 4 months.
